Today, Steve Descano, the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax, endorsed Ramin Fatehi for Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Descano is a progressive prosecutor in charge of the largest of the 120 Commonwealth’s Attorney jurisdictions in Virginia, responsible for justice and safety for over 1.1 million Virginians. Descano is also a founding member of Virginia Progressive Prosecutors for Justice (VPPFJ), the first statewide progressive-prosecutor policy and advocacy organization in the United States.
“I could not be more proud to have the endorsement of my friend and ally Steve Descano,” said Fatehi, “Steve is a former Army officer and federal prosecutor. He is a champion for progressive ideas and public safety, and I have had the privilege of working with him in VPPFJ since its founding and in the General Assembly. I look forward to working together.”
Descano’s full statement in support of Ramin is below:
“I have known and worked with Ramin Fatehi for years. He has the head of a criminal justice policy wonk and the heart of a true reformer. As Norfolk’s Commonwealth’s Attorney I know he’ll work relentlessly to build a criminal justice system that treats every community member fairly — regardless of their race, income, or zip code. And I know he’ll work with reform-minded commonwealth’s attorneys across the state to confront mass incarceration and racial disparities in our justice system. I am proud to enthusiastically endorse Ramin for Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney, and hope you’ll join me in supporting his campaign.”
Ramin Fatehi is a progressive prosecutor seeking the Democratic nomination for Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney. Early voting for the June 8 primary runs through June 5 at Norfolk City Hall.
