This afternoon, New Virginia Majority endorsed Ramin Fatehi for re-election as Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney. In the endorsement, NVM states:

“After a rigorous process led by our member Leadership Council, we’re proud to endorse champions who fight for housing justice, immigrant rights, and economic opportunity. With our powerful field program, members and volunteers will be knocking on doors and making calls to elect leaders who put our communities FIRST. These endorsements reflect our commitment to tenants’ rights, accessible homeownership, immigrant protections, and advancing freedom for all Virginians.”

In the context of criminal justice, New Virginia Majority advocates for “a fair and just criminal justice system ensur[ing] that law enforcement officers are accountable to their communities, there are more community-based alternatives to incarceration, poverty is decriminalized, and returning citizens have a fair shot to succeed.”

During the 2021 election cycle, New Virginia Majority supported numerous successful candidates, including Fatehi.

New Virginia Majority joins Working Families Party and Way to Lead in endorsing Fatehi’s campaign. Fatehi has also been endorsed individually by Congressman Bobby Scott, Speaker Don Scott, former Attorney General Mark Herring, former Delegate Algie Howell, and former Councilmen Paul Riddick and Andy Protogyrou. Primary day is June 17. Early voting began May 2 and will continue through Saturday, June 14.
