This morning, Congressman Bobby Scott and Speaker of the House of Delegates Don Scott endorsed Ramin Fatehi for re-election as Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Speaker Scott commented: “I’m honored to stand beside an incredible public servant, someone who has dedicated his career to justice and making Norfolk a stronger and safer community for everyone. That person is your Commonwealth’s Attorney, Ramin Fatehi. A strong community is a safe community, and that’s not just a slogan, it’s a fact. You can’t go to school, go to work, or build a successful life if your community isn’t safe. And under Ramin’s leadership, Norfolk is safe. The facts don’t lie: Since he took office in 2022, homicides in Norfolk have fallen by over 42%. Violent crimes are down 40%. The number of children sent to adult prison has fallen to nearly zero. Those are the results you want to see from your Commonwealth’s Attorney. That’s what real leadership looks like. That’s why I’m so proud to support Ramin Fatehi for Commonwealth’s Attorney.”

Congressman Scott added: “Ramin has shown that you can do the right thing, follow the evidence and research, and not slogans and sound bites. He has treated all with respect and administers his office without fear or favoritism, and that’s why he should be reelected.”

Commonwealth’s Attorney Fatehi stated: “This work is not easy, but it is a calling for me, and it is because I really believe in what our Constitution says about all of us being equal. It is vital that we continue this work. We are watching Donald Trump and Elon Musk take a wrecking ball to the federal justice system. They are legalizing corruption for billionaires and corrupt plutocrats. They are giving favors and pardons to their friends while, at the same time, they are ramping up executions for poor people, stripping green cards from legal citizens, and trying to police the wombs of our mothers and sisters. We cannot have this in Norfolk. We cannot have this. No matter what happens in Washington, no matter what happens anywhere else, I will be the bulwark of people’s rights and people’s safety in this city.”

Primary day is June 17, with early voting beginning May 2.
